The Paradoxical Commandments
People are illogical, unreasonable, and self-centered.Love them anyway. If you do good, people will accuse you of selfish ulterior motives.Do good anyway. If you are successful, you will win false friends and true enemies.Succeed anyway. The good you do today will be forgotten tomorrow.Do good anyway.Honesty and frankness make you vulnerable.Be honest and frank anyway. The biggest men and women with the biggest ideas can be shot down by the smallest men and women with the smallest minds.Think big anyway.People favor underdogs but follow only top dogs.Fight for a few underdogs anyway. What you spend years building may be destroyed overnight.Build anyway.People really need help but may attack you if you do help them.Help people anyway.Give the world the best you have and you’ll get kicked in the teeth.Give the world the best you have anyway.” ― Kent M. Keith, The Silent Revolution: Dynamic Leadership in the Student Council.

Video interview with Mark Laudi – Second Opinion
Also, it’s a pleasure to be part of this book co-written with the experienced trader Ray Barros.
This particular work is very important and has the perfect timing.
We are living in times that will be known in history as a landmark regarding worldwide economy. The rules are changing although the principles remain the same. Each market in the world has different consequences after the 2008 crisis.
The great fortunes are changing hands.
Although some try, there’s no comparison with the 1929 crisis. Currently, the speed of everything is magnified. The world craves for a new model.
In my personal opinion, not only the old mathematics is applied in the equation, but also a very dangerous and uncertain factor, the human fear. That’s worse than anything once it cannot be controlled. The psychology of the Economy is pure nitroglycerin that unbalances any prediction or prognosis. Fear can destroy banks. How terrible and unpredictable that can be!
Also, we live in a culture that doesn’t give incentives to recycle as a way of life, only as a “last resource measure” for the environment. There’s a whole new front to making money by going green.
What is going to happen from now on?
Will the old established markets regain stability and control?
Will the emergent countries clamor for international trade?
When will it be safe to trade and invest?
It’s a moment of more questions than answers.
I believe that a great way to understand what’s happening is to let Ray Barros and Anna Wang lead you in this minefield which is the Science of Trading.
I couldn’t think of better guides.
It’s been quite a few years since I met Anna for the first time. I was just starting my working life and she was introduced to me by my father, for whom she was working at the time. She struck me as being a very dynamic and energetic person then, but I never would have thought that one day I’d have the privilege of writing a foreword for one of her books. Well, life has its peculiar twists and turns, so it’s amazing that this has happened.
There is no way that any author of a book on trading in financial markets is able to guarantee success for her readers but I like the way in which Anna has added a lot of personal anecdotes to give real life examples of her own experiences as well as listing takeaways at the end of each chapter. If we don’t make money, at least we would be more educated!
More seriously, Anna and Ray have put together a book that will be able to guide investors of all levels, be they novices or professionals. Although my own training in the field of investments is rudimentary, to say the least, I have been fortunate to have been involved in different aspects of the industry early on in my career. At the end of the day, success in investing depends a lot on being disciplined in the execution of whichever model one adopts: so my advice is to heed Anna’s and Ray’s advice and be able to stick with it!
I wish Anna and Ray all the best with this book. Knowing Anna, her next book will be on a totally different subject but it will still be well researched and will contain information and experience that she herself has garnered first hand, just like this one. To Anna and Ray, thank you for the sharing.
